Emily Ross Wins Surf Coast Shire Youth Leadership Award

The nominees and winners of the SurfCoast Shire Youth Awards were announced at a function held at the Shire offices on Saturday April 21st. Any young person can be nominated for these awards and they can be nominated by individuals or organisations from throughout the shire.

Our College nominated Year 12 Emily Ross for the leadership award. Emily has been a leader in the school across a range of areas including being House Captain and playing a leading role in both hosting our Indonesian sister school students and showing excellent leadership skills when visiting Indonesia last year. Emily was also a strong participant in the Kokoda Trek expedition also held last year. In addition Emily’s approach to her academic studies has been exemplary throughout her time at the school and she is a wonderful role model for other students.

There was very strong competition for the award as there were many other nominations from throughout the shire, we certainly have some talented young people in our midst.

It was with great pride and rejoice that Emily’s name was announced as the winner of the leadership category and on behalf of the school community we congratulate Emily on this wonderful recognition of her achievements.
