Kokoda Trek

Lorne P-12 College has been selected as the recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (Australia) Kokoda Track Sponsorship program, supported by Flight Centre Foundation!

Twelve Year 10-12 students, with three staff members, will undertake their Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award with the Kokoda Trek as the Adventurous Journey component.  The Trek operator is On Track Expeditions and the date of our Trek is the 3rd of July to the 12th of July 2017.

The sponsorship covers the students’ flights, trek package, PNG visas and personal travel insurance.

What an amazing opportunity for our students.  Simon Scholtes, Tony Speed and Amy Lane will be leading the trip and our students are well prepared following their participation in our PE and Outdoor Education programs.

We know that this experience will have an incredible impact on the participants and we look forward to hearing more about their preparations and the adventure!

Congratulations to the following students who were selected today following a rigorous and competitive selection process:

Year 12s – Max Caon, Alex Umbers, Jarred Shaw and Liam McCauley
