Prep to Year 2 Camp

Well done to all of our little Prep to Year 2 campers for a fantastic camp last week. On Thursday we all headed into Yeodene to climb, zip and make our way around the two different courses at Treetop Adventure. The students were all very brave and completed the course numerous times!

When we arrived back in Lorne, we said goodbye to the Preps and made our way in the school bus down the Great Ocean Road to Wye River. Once we settled into our cabins, made our beds and put our ‘buddies’ on our pillows, it was dinner time. Mel Kohout and Leanne Travers had made the most delicious spaghetti bolognese that was demolished by all the hungry little campers. After washing down our dinner with some ice cream and apple crumble we made the most of the popular playground and jumping pillow before retiring to bed.

Bacon sandwiches, toast and cereal were on the menu for breakfast, with everyone doing their bit to help and use their best table manners. After breakfast we made our way back to school to meet the Preps and prepare for a morning of fun activities run by the Year 9 students. Flag races on the beach, the three legged sprint and a treasure hunt were some of the fun and games run by the Year 9s. A barbecue lunch cooked by Linda, Florence, Ivy, Kira and Kai was enjoyed on the foreshore next to the boat park before retiring back at school to watch ‘Robots’.

What a fabulous ‘inaugural’ Prep to Year 2 camp! The students were all very brave, beautifully mannered and I’m sure got A LOT out of the two days. The camp could not have happened without the help of some amazing staff and parents. Firstly thanks to Mel Kohout, Leanne Travers, Karen Stribling and Anna Crosbie for helping prepare the food. Jace Healey and Linda Davies for offering their time and support for being helpers, teachers, bus drivers and everything else they did that was above and beyond. To Mr. Speed and the Year 9 students who made the Friday such a fun and entertaining day. Finally to the Travers family for their help and kind gesture of letting us come and stay down at the Big 4 Wye River Holiday Park. We can’t thank you enough!

‘I loved sleeping in the cabins because I got to sleep in a bunk bed. Next year I want to sleep on the top bunk!’ Tanner

The camp was the best camp in the world. We laughed so hard when Mr Sloan was trying to tell us to leave the parrots alone, but as he was leaving one flew onto his head’ Emma

I loved the sleepover part of camp! We got to stay in bunks beds with all of our friends. I can’t wait for next year! Molly

I thought the zip line was the best because you got swing off trees on your own. I can’t wait for next year so we can stay the night! Kobe B D
