Sculpture Biennale Art Project

NEWS IN THE ART ROOM

We have been very busy in the art world this term. Local artist Veronica Phillips has been working on the wonderful woven willow structure, which will be part of the new landscaping at the front of the school. Students will be assisting with the preparation of the willow and then the weaving of it into the structure. It was lovely that Rose Phillips an ex-student talked to the Year 9/10 and 7/8 art classes about the process and idea behind it. Stay tuned as the sculpture progresses.

On Thursday students ranging from Prep to VCE, (unfortunately not the 9/10’s), were involved in a day workshop making clay bowls which will be part of an installation sculpture by the artist Carla Gottgens. Student had a wonderful day and it was lovely seeing the senior students helping the preps in making the bowls. The sculpture symbolizes a cupped hand trying to hold on to water. The hundreds of bowls will be installed near the church so I encourage everyone to have a look.
