Yr 9/10 Coastal Region Football Netball Day

Selected Yr 9/10 students competed in the Coastal Football and Netball day on Wednesday 17th May at Central Reserve in Colac with the help of Ryan Sloan, Tilo De Bon, Amy Lane and Ebony Stacey.

The Football team was a combination team from Apollo Bay and Lorne allowed for our players to join forces to create a stronger team and reinforce the social connections were have been working on as Otway Cluster schools. The team played very well against tough competition and it was great to see all players working well together.

Our netball team was one player down so was forced to borrow players from other schools for our games. The team played very well in a tough draw with the Colac teams presenting very strong teams. Well done to all our students who competed.

Girls Coastal Football Day

2017 was the first year we have had the Coastal Girls Football day get off the ground and it was a fantastic start to what we hope to be an important date in our sports calendar for the coming years. Our student travelled to Apollo bay Football reserve to again join forces with Apollo Bay as a combination team for the event. We had the experience of Phoebe and Luka to help coach the side which was very valuable and the cohesion of the students from both schools was inspiring. Most of our girls have never played football before so it was fantastic to see them getting involved in the day with such enthusiasm. We faced some very strong teams from Colac with many of their teams training and play football outside of school but our students made the most of the day and improved their confidence and skills with every game that we played.

Shelley Scott from the Melbourne Demons Football Club presented the medals, who is from Apollo Bay which was a great motivation for our keen footy players. Thanks to everyone involved in the day and well done to all the girls who participated!
