Sports report – Amy Lane

Colac Division Athletics

On Thursday 26th April, 13 students from Yr 3 – 6 travelled to Colac Central reserve to compete in the Colac Division Athletics Sports. This is our first time attending this event and students who placed first at the Otway Cluster sports qualified to compete as part of the Otway cluster team from Lorne, Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill P-12 College.

The day was very successful with many great achievements from our students. Thanks to Kim Prince who transported the kids to the event in the community bus and to the parent helpers who helped on the day.

Students who placed first in the Otway Cluster Aths in Apollo Bay gained a place in the Coastal Aths championships to compete against the Colac schools. We had students competing in a range of track and field activities and it was a great day to test our skills against the Colac Secondary College, Trinity College, Apollo Bay and Lavers Hills P-12 colleges. Students who achieve outstanding results will qualify for the Greater Western Athletics in Term 3.

Some excellent results for the day were:

Lorne P-12 Snowsports Team

Lorne P-12 College is looking to get a primary school snow sports team up and running this year – skiing and snowboarding to compete at the Victorian Interschool Snowsports championships on 20 – 22nd August at Mt Buller. Students can compete in the Giant Slalom and Border/Skier Cross events in skiing or snowboarding but must be competent to participate.

We would be looking to run a training camp with racing instruction on a weekend prior to the event and team participation in the interschool event in August. Assistance will be offered to families with transport and accommodation during these trips. Parents must accompany their children to both the training camp and the interschool event and all costs must be covered by the family.

If you are interested, can you please contact Amy Lane at the school or via email lane.amy.a@edumail.vic.gov.au
