Sports Report – June 1st

9/10 Footy Netball Day

On Tuesday 22nd May, our keenest footballers and netballers from Yr 9/10 travelled to Colac Central Reserve to battle out the Coastal Region Winter sports championships. Our footballers joined forces with Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill as a combined Otway team and our netballers competed as a Lorne representative side in strong competition against Trinity College and Colac Secondary College.

Our football side bonded well as a combined side to play some good matches against the stronger teams and our netball side worked hard to keep up with the very tough competition.

Well done to all of our students who represented our school very well and enjoyed the day out of football and netball!

Colac Cross Country

7 students in Yr 3 – 6 from Lorne P-12 College travelled to Colac Botanical Gardens with Annie McMahon on Thursday 24th May to compete in the Colac Region Primary Cross country event. The distances range from 2 – 3km based on age groups and our students performed very well in a competitive field. Congratulations to all our students who competed.

Three of these students have qualified for the GW Cross country which takes place on Friday 1st of June – April Boyd, Mia Bayley and Lucas Van Maasdyk. Good luck to these students!

Girls Football Day

Selected students from Yr 7 – 9 participated in the Girls Football Day in Apollo Bay on Wednesday 30th May. Making the trek through all the road works and closures, our girls were in fantastic spirit to join forces with Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill to create the Coast Girls Football team under the guidance of Jarrod Wight from Apollo Bay as coach.

We had three games against Trinity (2 teams) and Colac Secondary College (1 team) and all of a very high standard but it was the teamwork of our girls as a combined team that shone and saw the team be victorious in two of the games. Thanks to Hayley Livingstone for helping on the day and congratulations to all of our girls who attended. We look forward to more girls getting on board for next years event!
