Sports Report Week 10

Greater Western Cross Country

Two students from Year 4, April Boyd and Levi Crosbie qualified for the Greater Western Cross Country championships, which was held in Warrnambool on Monday 3rd June. Both students performed well in a very competitive field with runners from a large number of schools from Western Victoria.

April placed 25th which is an excellent result. Congratulations to both our students who competed.

7/8 Football and Netball day

On Tuesday 4th June students from Years 7/8 travelled to Central reserve in Colac to play in the Football and Netball day against other schools in the Coastal and Colac region.

The football team was once again a combination team of Lorne, Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill who came together as a fantastic team who were very competitive in their matches against Colac Secondary College and Trinity College.

The netball team faced some very strong teams from the Colac schools as a combination team with players from Trinity College joining us for the day to make up numbers. The team grew together as they played against the various sides and were very supportive of each other despite never playing together as a team. They had a few close games and achieved a draw against Colac Secondary College, which was a great effort!

Well done to all our football and netball players who participated in the day.

5/6 Football and Netball day

Students from Years 5/6 competed in the Colac Division Football and Netball day on Friday 14th June in very wintery conditions at Central reserve and Eastern Gardens.

We had a combination football team with Apollo Bay and two combination netball teams in the A and C divisions.

The football team were coached by Jarrod Wight from Apollo Bay and Kim Prince and came together as a strong team who were very competitive against the Colac teams. The team had one win and other close games and just missed out on making the finals, which was a great effort for the students from both schools.

Both netball teams played fantastic despite some very trying conditions and the A side had one win throughout the round robin.

It was wonderful to see all our Yr. 5.6’s work so well with the Apollo Bay students as Coastal team and create some great social bonds with them.
