On Friday the 6th March the VET hospitality class dined at Yield Restaurant and Providore in Birregurra. Our shared platters were a mixture of locally or regionally sourced produce plus a selection of vegetables and herbs grown by Kara and Simon Stewart, our hosts.

The food was excellent and with amazing flavour combinations created by Simon. The food included salads, slow cooked lamb, organic halloumi, heritage tomatoes, homemade soda and fennel ice cream served with plums. It was lovely to overhear the comments made by the students and I think the best one of the day was “ I think I have died and gone to food heaven.”

Thanks to Simon and Kara for hosting us and also to Bernie Everett who helped with transportation. I plan to open Cafalicious soon and  hopefully this excursion has been an inspiration for the students that attended.
